Awesome pocket rocket of a flashlight. The improvements over the previous generation baton are quite significant. The user interface (thankfully) remains the same but the change of pocket clip, improved knurling, battery level indicator, magnet strength, reflector type and a more refined charging cable design are all welcome additions and make this flashlight eminently functional despite its diminutive proportions. I have knocked a star off due to a) the output could be more evenly spaced (eg, currently there is a jump from 60 lumens to 600/300 lumens), and b) the battery level indicator is not functional when in "moonlight" mode, which is the setting I most frequently use. Neither of these points are deal-breakers and I am extremely happy with this little flashlight.

Description

The Olight S1R MK II Baton is an upgraded version of the popular S1R. This next generation model has a maximum output of 1000 lumens from the XM-L2 cool white LED and is powered by a customised Olight IMR RCR123 battery (included). Truly outstanding performance from a light of these dimensions, measuring just 63mm long and weighing just 51 grams. A second generation TIR Lens produces a wide hotspot and even beam pattern to maintain comfortable vision during use.

As with the original S1R, the MK II features an innovative magnetic charging design with a cable that attaches to the base of the torch and on the other end, a USB adapter to plug into a PC, power bank, USB adapter or other USB device, meaning you will never be far from a charging point.

The Olight S1R MK 2 has a battery level indicator built-in to the side switch which has three colour levels; green to show power is >60%, yellow when between 10% and 60% or red when <10%.

Lightweight and extremely compact, the S1R II is ideal for everyday carry. The torch offers five brightness levels, ranging from 0.5 to 1000 lumens, plus a Strobe mode. The light is operated by a single side switch which allows for one-handed operation. The S1R MKII will lower its brightness from 1000 lumens to 300 lumens after 90 seconds to prevent overheating, quite understandable for a light of this size!

Level 1: 1000 lumens - 37 mins runtime (drops to 300 lumens after 90 seconds) - 145 meter range
Level 2: 600 lumens - 45 mins runtime
Level 3: 60 lumens - 3 hrs 40 mins runtime
Level 4: 12 lumens - 20 hrs runtime
Level 5: 0.5 lumens - 8 days runtime
Tactical Strobe: 1000 lumens

A magnetic base allows the S1R II to be attached to metal surfaces for hands free use and there is a lockout mode to prevent accidental operation when stored. The pocket clip is dual directional and can be used to attach to a cap peak or deep pocket carry.

Maximum beam distance 145 meters and waterproof to IPX-8.
